There was a time – a simpler time, perhaps, when Final Fantasy games weren’t all about how feminine the main character looked, or about revolutionizing and overhauling a battle system every game, or beating a single well recieved game into the ground. No, Sir, back in my day, Final Fantasy: Tactics was all about just that – Tactics, with an excellent storyline to match. Back then, I would muse to myself, “Self, surely there is no way Square will ever find a way to sully the good name of Final Fantasy Tactics, especially not by releasing two games for the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS, respectively, making it a more kid friendly game in which the protagonist is transported into the world of Ivalice through some magical book he finds, much like the plot of a cheesy 1980’s movie!?”
Well, none of that really matters, to be honest, I just felt the need to vent somewhat. My favorite feature of the Playstation 3, the PSN Classics store, which allows a Playstation user to download old Playstation games and save them to the PS3’s hard drive, is supposedly getting a release of Final Fantasy Tactics. Which is fucking awesome.
Because Tactics is awesome.
