I guess that whole piracy thing is serious business, since Crytek saw such a dip in potential sales for their 2007 techdemo game Crysis, attributed it to piracy, and swore to never make another PC exclusive game again. Then they made the PC exclusive Crysis Warhead, and now have made good on their promise to never make another PC exclusive.
Crysis 2 is only an announcement, but I can’t help but speculate what will become of the game now that it’s aimed at consoles as well. I mean, fuck, the open ended style gameplay in the first portion of each game probably wouldn’t sit well with most console gamers, who are more used to on-rails type shootan then free form shootan.
Furthermore, where will Crysis 2 be taking place? The first game’s ending pretty much set it up for a sequel, so technically console gamers will be missing out on a large portion of the story (as generic as it is.)
Hopefully it will stay in the jungle setting and stay far, far away from the brown grey green color scheme so many games try to use.
