Three days into the Sniper update, and apparently one (or two) days left to go. The newest unlock? A fuckin’ shield. As First Person Shouter pointed out, its probably the first unlockable aimed at a single class counter. Sure, the Flare Gun could be considered a counter to a Sniper, but this is specifically aimed at Spies.
Even more intriguing than this, is this bit of speculation and conspiracy by some neckbeard on the Steam forums. As he and a couple others cleverly noticed, the dead spy in the above picture is holding a golden item – perhaps a pocketwatch? What is even freakier is that there are a couple of accounts of the image showing an uncloaked Spy at certain times during the day.
So, the Spy ends up getting his Team Fortress Classic feign death back? The Sniper update is actually the Spy update? The Spy update is next?
It wouldn’t be unlike Valve to do something like this – they hinted at the dual payload map in the Scout update, afterall.
