First real Modern Warfare 2 trailer

One of the things that made Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare such a good game was it’s setting – for too long, we’ve been shooting Nazis and Russians and Japanese in 1943.  Modern Warfare had interesting weapons, and a decent storyline to boot – I actually found myself compelled with some of the characters along the way.  And while it was still just an on rails shooter at it’s heart, it had some really awesome guns, and it had personality – and personality goes a long way.

Its probably too early to say if Modern Warfare 2 will live up to the first game or not – but this trailer looks awesome.  And that means either Infinity Ward knows what the fuck they’re doing, or Activision has some really good marketing guys.  At any rate – motherfuckin’ snow mobiles.  At least its not World War II again.

as cool as the it looks, i’m still not “OMG MUST BUY ON RELEASE DATE” game because 85% of that trailer was cut-scenes, and those don’t make me buy a game.

besides, i’ve played through COD4 like 3 times now, and the game still is pretty fucking boring for me (besides sniper level, intrigues me!)

Multiplayer is all i’m looking forward to in this game.

Call of duty has a single player?

  • Yeah, to go with it’s mediocre arena shootan multiplayer.

the infinity ward CoD releases are the most refined shooters on the market. Eat shit and die motherfucker.

  • no u

Refined maybe, competitive? No. Perks? In a multiplayer game?

Although COD4 had some awesome guns and gunplay, I’ll give it that. Multiplayer with a community dominated by mouthbreathing twelve year olds and redneck militants does not make for a fun time.

Judging the quality of a game off a community of people who in turn base their lives off of said video game is pretty ‘mouthbreathy’ in it of itself.

  • The quality of the game itself is top notch. The quality of the multiplayer is nothing new – the same arena shootan since Quake. And multiple player games should indeed be judged by the quality of the community around said game (the community making the “multiplayer” portion of the “multiplayer” game.)

At any rate, I am indeed breathing heavily through my mouth right now.

Well before we start taking subtle shots at each other, let me ask you this: What is it that you do not like about Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer? Do you feel that its model of a shooter is just to dated? Or are you unable to take pleasure in shooting sombody’s pixelated counter part unless you subscribe to and agree with his news letter?

  • Instant respawns, perks, mouthbreathing twelve year olds. For arena shootan, there are better games out there that don’t rely on some retarded stick and carrot perk/XP system – Counter-Strike, in particular. To each his own though, I just feel that an experience based “progression” system in a FPS arena shooter is not good game design.

  • Tried playing Modern Warfare over the weekend again, just to see if I was possibly wrong in my assumptions.

I wasn’t, shit sucks, and also add “grenade spam” to the list of shit that is wrong with COD4’s multiplayer.
