Intense action.

Intense action.

The Sniper vs Spy update has been something of a bittersweet experience for most people.  I’ve personally enjoyed it thoroughly.

Valve really hit a home run with this new achievement system.  Instead of actually playing games and gathering class specific achievements one by one for new unlocks, players now are randomly awarded unlocks based on absolutely nothing at all!  Even better, you can get duplicates, triplicates, even six or seven copies of any single unlock, even previous unlocks such as the Force of Nature or Kritzkreig!

Better yet, there is this fantastic new map, achievement_idle, where all the action in this new update takes place.

CREDIT TO TEAM.

CREDIT TO TEAM.

Usually, I don’t like going with a less active class like the Engineer.  But on achievement_idle, I feel like I’m really adding something to the overall team effort.

Best of all, achievement_idle helps take the stress and bother of other maps, to the point where the entire map can be played while Team Fortress remains minimized.  It’s a fantastically executed concept that really shows Valve’s planning and evolution of the Team Fortress 2 unlock system.  I mean, why bother gathering achievements when I can just sit around in the map, minimize Team Fortress, and watch porn, all whilst collecting more weapons than I would have actually playing the game?
