Dream Theater’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings – June 23rd

A follow up to their 2007 album, Systematic Chaos, Black Clouds & Silver Linings will no doubt improve upon the band’s already refined musical repertoire.  To me, Dream Theater is the definition of modern day progressive music – a genre not easily defined, and equally difficult to master.  Their hard and heavy riffs, combined with Rush-like lyrics and complex musical structure allow for a listener to pick up on new subtleties in every subsequent spin of an album.  Although I’m admittedly looking forward to the inevitable Black Clouds tour which will no doubt follow the release of this album – Dream Theater is one band I have never had the pleasure of seeing live.
