Two days until early access to the Left 4 Dead demo is released (you did preorder it from Gamestop, right?), and today Valve announced that a new function of Steam – “Steam Cloud” will launch along side of it.
Steam Cloud is a set of services announced by Valve which will save settings – like keybinds and gamesaves, cache them locally, and upload them to the Valve servers when an Internet connection is present.
Obviously, this is a pretty big feature added to Steam, although existing games will need to be using Steamworks to utilize this feature. The functionality requires no user knowledge – it “just works”.
