AoC Merging Servers

Kinda bittersweet – I’d rather this type of thing not happen to WAR (although WAR has the advantage of not releasing a half-assed product):

I can today confirm that we are actively working on an approach to merge servers, both in Europe and North America. It’s important for us to ensure the best gameplay experience for [...]

Colbert To Debut in “The Amazing Spider-man”

No, not a shitty comic book movie, a semi-shitty comic:

Diablo III To use a “Checkpoint” Death System, No DX10

As well as not having guns, spell tomes, or DX10 (lol vista), but I’m more intrested with the new death system:

Before I get in to what we are doing let me go over some things we want to avoid with a death mechanic.

We want to separate being in town and being out on a quest/adventure/dungeon [...]

Nintendo Rumor Announces New DS by the end of the Year

Apparently, Nintendo is hard at work on a new Nintendo DS – complete with a camera and stronger wireless signal.  Intaresting.  Nintendo denied (but didn’t really deny) the existence of such a beast.

Oh well.  I love my DS lite, hopefully they improve upon it’s design and give it a bit more firepower as well.

Half a Mill for WAR

Mark Jacobs tells Gameindustry.biz:

“In just one week we have a half a million people playing WAR online, and the ranks of Order and Destruction are growing at a record-breaking pace for a new MMORPG,” offered Mark Jacobs, co-founder of Mythic Entertainment.”

Not bad there, Mr. Jacobs.  WAR’s beta ticker was somewhere upwards of 800k towards the [...]

Fannie Mae to Ease Credit, doesn’t afraid of anything

I think Fannie Mae is a pretty cool guy.  Eh gives out shitty loans and doesn’t afraid of anything:

By STEVEN A. HOLMES

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from [...]

Left 4 Dead System Requirements Released

Suprisingly beefy requirements for a Source based game.  Meh.  I’ll do it live run it fine.

OS: Windows Vista, XP or 2000
CPU: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 or AMD64X2 (or higher)
RAM: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista
Disc drive: DVD-ROM Drive
Hard drive: At least 7.5 GB of free space
Video: Direct X 9 compatible video [...]

What I would improve in WAR

WAR had a pretty good launch.  Aside from server queues and a few somewhat major graphical glitches and such, it’s smoove as buttah.

That’s not to say the game couldn’t stand some improvement, and here’s some of the stuff I’d like to see in the first major patch:

Mounts

Mounts are one of the weakest links in WAR [...]

New Dragon Age: Origins Videos

Look fucking amazing.  Seems business as usual for a Bioware game, until video number four.  So excited for this, as the game appears to be far more epic than Baldur’s Gate was.  Not only that, it’s a PC exclusive, meaning it won’t be dumbed down for consoles.  Check out all four videos after [...]
